Preface

(Preliminary)

Are you living with fragmented material property data before? Does it take hours to sort through superfluous information to find the data you need? With this material handbook, you no longer have to do so.

This handbook compiles the properties and applications of major engineering materials including metals, polymers, elastomers, ceramics, glasses, and composite materials together. It is intended to serve the needs of engineers, designers and other engineering professionals.

To my knowledge no book is available covering the engineering materials with emphasis on the material properties and applications. Originating from the needs of engineering practices, this book collects many material properties including those currently available to engineering professionals . The material properties are reflecting current industry standards and advanced manufacturing levels. The properties presented in this material handbook contain the available dynamic data, which are very valuable to practical applications.

Many materials have existed for decades but have been found new engineering applications lately. Some other materials have been developed just recently. This material handbook provides material selection guides and intends to aid engineers, designers and other engineering professionals in optimizing their material selections, more effectively designing their products, and exploring new applications.

In this information era, some data of material properties have been posted on the internet. However, some web publishers arranged their material properties with variety ways to emphasize the value of their products. In general, it is very tedious to seartch through and find the material properties you need. This material handbook is intented to provide you with the most complete material property and application information right away at one stop.

Many visitors view the material handbook on the internet every day. As a result of this fruitful collaboration, the material handbook becomes one of the web's premier sources of reference material for engineers, designers, and other engineering professionals.
